For Love of the Game

Things seem to be coming together and I think the road ahead is starting to come into focus.

Let me clarify,  I spent the afternoon today, following church, at a run-down Motel on the edge of town.  I don’t normally make this a habit, however today was a bit different.   I was on a film shoot.  Now before you start getting ideas on what kind of movie would be shooting in a dingy, run-down, seedy motel on the edge of  town, this was a short, independent film produced by a bunch of old colleagues from college.

It was like a reunion of sorts as we all were brought back together.  For this, both Trey and myself were enlisted to give a cameo appearance at the end of the movie.  Trey was a television news cameraman, and I was a newspaper photographer.  We had to pester some speaking actors who were arresting one particularly unsavory character featured in the film.  It wasn’t a speaking role, but it was fun nonetheless.

What this has done, however, has reminded me of a life I’ve been away from for a while now.  The life of production.  Sure it was rough, it was hot, it was demanding, it was challenging.  But I found that I missed it.  In fact, I had two very good ideas (one serious, one not) while standing there waiting for my scene.

Now I have to redouble my efforts on this screenplay.  I think I see a horizon peeking through this haze.

It is so hard to fake cry! And I am so tired from the shoot today at the creek. But I think I understand your world more, now. It was fun. And I am glad I did it. Soon… So soon… And I will enjoy ours more.

So when do I get to hear about the new ideas in a bit more detail?

  4. Ryan Says:

Well, when exactly would you care to hear about them? Wednesday?

  5. Me Says:

    Sure :-)

  6. BBuddy Says:

    Who’s “Me”?

  7. Ryan Says:

Improper grammar. You should be asking “Who am I?”

  8. BBuddy Says:

::narrows eyes:: Don’t even go there.

  9. me Says:

    You need to update

  10. Ryan Says:

You’re absolutely right. Just as soon as something interesting happens to warrant me writing about something.

Ah, the perils of being as boring as dirt.

  11. me Says:

So write… “life is boring, pretty much the same, judgment is coming up looking forward (or not) to that…” etc. etc. etc…

A new post has to be worth it. Right now there isn’t anything worth making that kind of post about. The current post is still good enough.

  13. Me Says:

almost a month old…. I should stick flamboyantly, florescent, fuchsia flamingos in your front yard… maybe you would be able to post something then…

  14. Ryan Says:

That would certainly give me something to write about … marauding miscreants maligning makeshift migratory birds …

  15. Me Says:

I do believe you mean a marauding miscreant not miscreants ;-)

  16. Ryan Says:

I suppose that depends on whether or not the miscreant has any accomplices. Planting plenty of plastic pieces could be ponderous.
