Coming Attractions

So there’s a few different things I’ve been mulling over these last couple of weeks.  For the past two and a half years I’ve been trying to find a new and different job, since I have absolutely no desire for mu current employment to become a long-term career.

I do have an option, it’s essentially owning my own business providing technical support to small and medium sized enterprises.  The setup is actually run by a company out of Canada, and they’d handle the promotional materials, billing, taxes, and so forth.  But the license fee is quite expensive, and there’s a lot of other upfront costs.  I could probably handle it, but it’s daunting.   I’ve made it through their screening process and have been invited to join them, but I have to decide whether I can take the costs of it.

There’s other stuff, based upon the advice of friends, but that’s not important right now.  What is important is that this is a new post.

i’m not sure what the costs are, but this sounds like something you could definitely do. on a tech level, i doubt that you think you can’t handle it. and even if this is a bit uncomfortable, i would think that it it’d be better than your current position.

at the moment is the bigger issue the change of vocation or the financial cost of the change?

Right now it’s financial. A license fee of $3500, purchase of a notebook computer, purchase of a business cellular phone … sure I could probably get business leases, and possibly some loans or lines of credit from the bank … but I’m so averse to debt, I’m cautious about moving forward.
